September 6th: 1. New BEAR info: We talked to the camp hosts at the Forest Service campground, and they were pretty adamant that people should NOT leave coolers in their cars. They showed us some photos of cars that have been pried open by bears!
The good news is that all of the campsites (resort and FS) appear to have large bear-proof boxes that will fit most coolers (all but the super big ones). So please use the boxes for all of your food, and share any extra box space with your neighbors. And if you have a cooler that is too big for the boxes, come over to the lodge/cabin area and someone can slide it inside overnight.
And again, please be sure to get all food and anything with a strong fragrance out of your car and into the boxes– and in any case close all you car windows tightly and lock the doors.
We will remind you about this stuff as you check in – and please remind fellow campers if you see anyone putting a cooler in their car.
2. Indoor lodging – ALL of the indoor lodging appears to have only 2-prong outlets. (The Resort had told us that the cabins and mansion were 2-prong but the lodge rooms were 3-prong). If you want to plug anything in inside your cabin or room, grab a couple 2 to 3 prong adapters (Longs, Radio Shack, etc.).
3. Indoor lodging kitchens – we checked out the kitchens in a couple of the lodge units. They have microwave ovens, a coffee maker, and toaster. The refrigerators are full size (but small) with a freezer
4. Cool at night – expect temps to drop into the 60s in the evening and maybe even the 40s overnight. Bring sweaters
5. Snack Bar Closed
Travel safe all, see you shortly.
